Whose definition of "decent" are we using here!? :) First, there is no accounting for taste so there may be folks who like their toast burnt!. Second, toasters are designed by engineers and many of them know everything, so they can't be wrong--it's all us who don't like burnt toast that are wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That setting is for people like my parents who eat their toast black!. Gotta have a setting for all possible preferences, from people who like their toast to be basically warm bread, to people who want bits of carbon falling off their "toast"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

that setting is used mostly for frozen stuff!.!.!. but some people do prefer "over crispy" black toast hehehe!.!.!.

Toasters are for more than bread!. When we toast frozen waffles, we use a high setting which would burn bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
