Why is ice cream called ice cream when it contains no ice!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
it just is!.!.!. or maybe the first time it was made it could have contained ice!.!.!.!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

when it was invented it was called Iced Cream because they would use a churn sort of like a butter churn that had ice in the outside and cream and other ingrediants on the inside!. So the cream would freeze but not be watery-and icey!. I dont know why they eventually dropped the "d" on the end!. we americans are just lazy i guess!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The water is frozen (ie the water in the milk and eggs), but it has a higher freezing point with the salt, fat and sugar in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because the ingredients that the ice cream is made is cold like ice ////Www@FoodAQ@Com

because it's "iced", meaning it's frozen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
