Question: Is a tomato a fruit of a vegetable!?
My whole life i thought that tomatoes were veggies but as it turns out they are fruits!. Is this true, and if it is then why do have my friends think that its a fruit and the other half think is a vegetable!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

However, the tomato is not as sweet as those foodstuffs usually called fruits and, from a culinary standpoint, it is typically served as part of a salad or main course of a meal, as are vegetables, rather than at dessert in the case of most fruits!. As noted above, the term "vegetable" has no botanical meaning and is purely a culinary term!. But tomatoes are indeed vegetables!.

It's the seeds that makes a fruit a fruit!. Technically tomatoes are fruit!. So are cucumbers, squash and green beans!. Certain fruits like tomatoes are not sweet, so they will be considered vegetables even if we know they are really the fruit of a plant!.
