Canned bean question?!

Question: Canned bean question!?
When calling for canned beans, such as pinto, black, or kidney, virtually all of the recipes I've seen tell you to drain the liquid before using!. Some tell you to rinse them also!. Can anyone tell me why this is, and are there any instances when you just use the beans with the liquid they come in!?

Thank you,

Answers:
black beans should always be rinsed really well as they tend to discolor your dish otherwise!. other beans like pintos, etc i'd only rinse and drain if i were making a salad with them!. i drain many but never rinse if i'm making a chili or something of that nature!. if you wanted to control the thickness and salt content then draining would be essential!. its more of an individual choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The liquid usually has salts and other chemicals in it(see the side label)!. The only time I use the liquid as well is when making a soup!. I usually want the extra body that the liquid has for my soup and I don't add salt to my soups so the salt in the can of beans is not a problem!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I drain & rinse the beans, know matter what it says!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
