Good eggs sink, bad eggs float, what about the ones that stand up?!

Question: Good eggs sink, bad eggs float, what about the ones that stand up!?
Just trying to work out if our eggs are okay!. We buy them from the market so they don't have a use by date on them!.

So I know that the good eggs will sink and the bad eggs float!. Our eggs are standing upright, pointy end down!.

I'm assuming that means they're old, but are they okay to eat!? We're cooking them, but I'm pregnant so maybe we'll give them the flick!?

What do you think!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
First, figure out if your eggs are fresh, because looking at the date on the carton is not always the best indicator of freshness, as eggs within the same carton with the same sell-by-date could have been laid on different days!. Check out Sell Date of Eggs!.

In a fresh egg, the yolk stand tall and the white is thick and cloudy!. In an older egg, the yolk looks flatter and breaks easily, and the white is thing and watery!.

A simple test in water will answer the freshness question for you!. Place the egg in a bowl of water; if it lays on its side, it is very fresh!. As it ages, the air pocket inside the egg grows, which buoys the egg up so it stands on one end!. If the egg floats to the top, it is ready for the trash

The best eggs for boiling are the ones on their way to standing up because that extra air makes peeling easier!. That's why you should buy eggs for hard-cooking at least a week ahead of time

So if I had to guess I would say they are no bad yet but they're are not super fresh either!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as they're not completely floating they're not bad!. The floating is caused by the decaying gasses built up within the egg!. I've had the kind you described and they were fine!. Since you're pregnant use what your gut instinct is telling you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They're ok!. But when you break them you will be able to tell if they're "off"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they're called Humpty DumptyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes they are okay to eat!. Do it today because they may be floaters tomorrow! LOL!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If they are standing up they must be fertilised!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

think its gonna be a horny bastard !.!.haha!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
