Do the calories only count if you swallow the gum?!

Question: Do the calories only count if you swallow the gum!?
I have gum that has 5 calories in each stick!. Does that only count if I swallow the piece of gum or if I chew it!? I'm sure this question seems insignificant but this question has crossed my mind a few times and I would like to put it to rest!. Thanks! xWww@FoodAQ@Com

haha yeah i know i've thought about that so many times!. I think the juice that comes from chewing the gum is where the calories come from, not swallowing it!. But yeah not to worry-you probably burn the five calories just moving your mouth up and down for an hour while you chew it ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

im sure u get the 5 calories either way!.!.!.the actual gum has little/none but the juice/sugar whatever in it comes out by chewing!.!.!.5 cals not much to worry about!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The calories are in the saliva you swallow when chewingWww@FoodAQ@Com
