Does a pint of milk weigh the same as a pint of water?!

Question: Does a pint of milk weigh the same as a pint of water!?
My 55 year old boss thinks a pint of any liquid will weigh the same whereas I argue that a pint is a measurement of amount not weight!. Who's right, it's me isn't it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Possibly not! it all depends on the specific gravity of the liquid, it also changes with the temperature of the liquid, the hotter the lighter with certain liquids!. Tell your boss a pint of heavy grade oil will weigh far more than a pint of water or milk!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

A pint is a measure of volume not weight!.
Since volume is dependent on temperature the apparent density also varies with temperature!. Comparisons are normally done at 4°C when water = 1!.000

Cows milk is very slightly denser than water so will weigh more!.
Milk also varies slightly by the breed and condition of the animal that produced it!.

milk is a little less dense than water due to the emulisfied fats (which float as cream)!. So a pint would weigh less than a pint of water!.

A litre of liquid water is 1 kg, wheras a litre of liquid metal such as mercury is MUCH heavier at 13!.5 kg !

Your boss is wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tell Your boss he is wrong and i will challenge him on that and he will lose big time!. Bring it on!. Ask your boss is H2o heavier than D2o both are water !? D2o has more density than H2o so D2o is heavier!. Density at 20c!. g/ml of H2o is 0!.9982 D2o is 1!.9982!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're right!. Milk is slightly lighter although there's not a lot in it!. A pint of oil weighs noticeably less than a pint of water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can't believe i've done this but a I've just weighed both - sad or what
1pt water = 20oz
1pt milk = 20oz
Afraid your boss is right

ps
a ton of feathers weighs the same as a ton of leadWww@FoodAQ@Com

Far better to use the metric system, then 250ml's would be the same in weight as 250gm'sWww@FoodAQ@Com
