I assume your mum is asking about snacks, rather than full meals, so you don't want a list of eggs, milk, etc!.
Coming from Britain my immediate reaction would be to say, welsh cakes, muffins, scones, bourbons, apples (pink lady or jazz), maybe some fresh berries, possibly a P&T and some Tonic water!.!.!.
A further assumption from the mention of 'mom' and a 'grocery store' that you are American, i will instead suggest Ben and Jerrys Phsh Food or Cookie dough ice-cream (Gü raspberry and dark chocolate is bette, but i doubt you get it!.!.!.) then abviousy oreos, those cracker things in the shape of fish (salt and vinegar, cheese or regular are all equally addictive)
On a healthy note, red romano peppers, sugar snaps, snow peas, baby corns and carrot sticks make great snacks, particularly if dunked in houmous or tapenade!.
I still recommed english muffins if you can get them, with a really good strawberry, Raspberry or blueberry jam (Favourite-a french brand, is best, but most french jam is excellent, honey works as well)!. But then that's just my bias!. I also think lemon curs and marmalade with a hint of whisky is brilliant, but you could completely disagree!.
If you prefer savoury, splendips are quite nice, though and stilton and walnut crackers with a smidgen of boursin will beat it hands down!. A slighlt random point, if you get a pack od pastry and some ritz crackers, the recipe for ritz faux apple pie is amazing as it does actually taste like apple pie!. I foy have the energy, time and inclination try making a real apple pie and a ritz apple pie and doing a blind side by side tasting on your friends and family!. Hours of fun!.
Anyway, hope that helped, don't forget kettle chips as well, and try vegetable crisps too!. Oh, and a last though, avocado, buffalo mozzarella and avocado make a really easy to prepare light lunch, if you fancy it!. Anway, well names of food out the window to your mum as she's probably driving away by this point!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
