Does adding morton salt to water on the stove help it boil faster?!
I've always wondered!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Ading the salt raises the temperature at which the water boils!. Assuming the same heat application to both salted and unsalted samples of water of the same volume, at the same ambient temperature, and the same height above sea level, the salt water will take longer to come to a boil!.
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, temperature is 212!.9 degrees Fahrenhieit!. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, the water boils at 215!.6, add a 2nd tablespoon of salt, the water boils at 218!.3!.
Note these figures are not exact for every location!. The differences after adding salt will always be there, but the actual boiling point of water changes as you rise above sea level!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
