Answers:
Potatoes and onions should not go bad in a few days unless you are storing them wrong!. Potatoes should be stored in a cool dark environment!. Onions as well but they need to be stored seperately from your potatoes as the moisture from the potatoes can cause the onions to rot faster!.
All other produce should be kept in your crisper drawers in the fridge!.

Potatoes, tomatoes, and onions can be frozen but you need to do a little preparation prior to throwing tomatoes in the cold!. Tomatoes should be blanched which is to say put in boiling water for 2 mins and then removed and put in ice water!. this will allow you to slip the skins off very easily!. You can then give them a little squeeze to remove the excess seeds and chop them and store them in plastic containers or freezer bags!. Onions can be simply chopped and frozen!. Potatoes need to be peeled, chopped (or sliced, or shredded) and then blanched!. (Will turn out similar to frozen hashbrowns)

Cabbage and carrots also would need to be blanched!. Slice or chop into the desire size 1st!. Then blanch it by putting in boiling water for 2 mins, then into ice water!. Drain the water well and freeze!.

Keep in mind that any produce that you are freezing will NOT be able to be used again as if it were fresh!. You only want to freeze things if you plan on cooking them later!. The cold temps freeze all the liquid in the veg causing cellular damage which results in a limp wilted appearance when you thaw so it will not be crisp and fresh as it was prior to freezing!.

Pretty much anything you see in the frozen food section can be frozen at home!. Most everything needs to be blanched prior to freezing!.

Lettuce will not freeze well!. It will be a wilted icky mess when thawed out!.

A good source for home produce preservation is the Ball Blue Book!. It tells you how to freeze pretty much anything as well as how to dehydrate and can food as well!.
A good website to check out for the same info is the USDA!.

Uh, potatoes and onions do NOT go bad in a few days!. Keep them in a cool, dry place, out of sunlight, and they can last more than a week, sometimes several weeks!.

Tomatoes go bad faster; don't buy more than you can eat at a time!.

If you cook things first, you can freeze them!.

Look into getting frozen veggies (green beans, peas); they last!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
