Can carrots really make you see better in the dark or is this just nonsense!?

In a sense, yes, carrots can make you see better in the dark as well as in the daylight too!.

Carrots are a fantastic source of Vitamin A (one medium carrot provides ten times the very low RDA of 600mcg) which plays a vital role in eye health!. Indeed, it is this very vitamin that transmits what our eyes see to our brain!. Vitamin A deficiency can lead to a whole host of vision problems including glaucoma, night blindness and short sightedness!.

Other fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes and apricots are also good sources of Vitamin A but it is the carrot that packs the biggest punch!. So if you ever struggle to make your kids eat their veg tell them about the amazing visual powers the carrot will give them!. You may be exaggerating somewhat but you're safe in the knowledge that you're telling the truth!.

Lack of Vitamin A can cause poor vision, including night vision, and vision can be restored by adding Vitamin A back into the diet!. The urban legend that says eating large amounts of carrots will allow one to see in the dark developed from stories of British gunners in World War II who were able to shoot down German planes in the darkness of night!. The legend arose during the Battle of Britain when the RAF circulated a story about their pilots' carrot consumption as an attempt to cover up the discovery and effective use of radar technologies in engaging enemy planes!. It reinforced existing German folklore and helped to encourage Britons - looking to improve their night vision during the blackouts - to grow and eat the vegetable!.

no, this was WW2 propaganda to encourage people to grow thier own vegetables, they are high in vitamin C and A but it has never been proven that they can help you see better
if you want to see better in the dark, just go outside at night more, your eyes will adapt
btw, purple carrots are higher in vitamins than regular orange ones, thier original colour was purple but they were bred to be orange cause it is more pleasingWww@FoodAQ@Com

yes it is true but u have to boil it for a while and also if u want to make ur eye sightseeing u have to woke up early in the morning and look to grass it is vvvv useful for eyes if u have garden do in ur house if not go to park and it is very good for ur health tooWww@FoodAQ@Com

No, but they are supposed to improve vision!. If there is no light at all, one cannot see, as the human eye requires some light in order to see!.
