Can grocery stores sell Whipping Cream that is past it's advertised expiration date?!

Question: Can grocery stores sell Whipping Cream that is past it's advertised expiration date!?
I was just on You Tube and found out how to make butter at home!. In one of the vidios a man said that old cream would actually make better butter!. Not completely spoiled but just with that sharp lactose smell it gets when it starts the spoiling process!. Since heavy cream is expensive I'm wondering if I could buy some that is on or past it's date from the store at a considerable discount making the process economical!. Has anyone tried this!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
legally no!.!. i used to work for a chain, and the guy who is in charge of that told me NO, anything past date CANNOT be sold in the stores, and they get in trouble for that kind of stuff when someone comes to "inspect" you could go to a discount store, which was where i worked, all the past date cereals and eggs and things that were still fine went there, along with lost freight items, overstock and all kinds of sale stuffWww@FoodAQ@Com

Here we can get things on the day of the expiration date or a day before, for a discount!. Usually it's like $0!.75 off, sometimes more!.

There was also something on the news a while ago that said the only thing illegal for them to sell past the expiration date was baby formula!. I'm not sure if that applies where you live, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you'd have to ask the store manager!. they take expired things off the shelves (or they try to, there are always a few slip ups)!.!.!. but grocery stores often have long lists of food pantries that get first dibs on just past due food items !. !. !. so call ahead and ask, then you can go pick it up if they have any, i'm sure it'd be at a discount!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont think so!. if they sold them then the store is done it is going to close down because of rottense!. just buy one and dont put it in frezzerWww@FoodAQ@Com

I've been shopping for many years & never saw that

stores do sell discontinued merchandise at discount, like wine, but not expired Www@FoodAQ@Com

Only in Arkansas and Kentucky!.!.!.

PS!. The cost of your hospital bills will easily cancel out any savings you made by opting not to buy a $3!.99 tub of Country Crock!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
