Is a mercury thermometer safe in the fridge? will it contaminate any food in it?!


Question: Is a mercury thermometer safe in the fridge!? will it contaminate any food in it!?
I wanted to know the exact temperature in my fridge, but didn't have a cooking thermometer (or whatever thermometer ur suppose to use)!. So I found one that was mercury and stuck it in my fridge for no more than 10 minutes!. Now im beginning to worry if it contaminated any of the food in the frigde in that short period of time!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

mercury can only contaminate if it is exposed, as in the thermometer broke!. Remember, the new light bulbs all the the enegy savers are promoting are mercury based and dangerous, only if broken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
