What root is root beer made from?!

Question: What root is root beer made from!?
Does it contain a natural ingredient, like licorice root does!?
I won't bother asking why they call it a beer when it obviously not fermented!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Originally root beer was the fermented liquor made from various herbs, spices, and roots!. Ingredients in early root beers included allspice, birch bark, coriander, juniper, ginger, wintergreen, hops, burdock root, dandelion root, spikenard, pipsissewa, guaiacum chips, sarsaparilla, spicewood, wild cherry bark, yellow dock, prickly ash bark, sassafras root*, vanilla beans, hops, dog grass, molasses and licorice!. Many of these ingredients are still used in root beer today along with carbonation!. There is no one recipe!. Now however there are standard recipes for the famous brands and it is artificially carbonated rather than fermented!.
