Corn syrup is not inherently bad!. The problem is that corn syrup is the most common food sweetener in the American diet, as it is very inexpensive!.

Corn syrup has no nutrients but is very high in calories!. It is used to sweeten virtually every processed food on the shelves!. The net effect is that Americans consume too many empty calories from corn syrup, resulting in a national health problem: Epidemic levels of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Probably because it's a sugar!. It's no worse for you than other sugars and better than sugar substitutes!.
