Why can't I eat the fresh mussels that I froze? ?!

Question: Why can't I eat the fresh mussels that I froze!? !?
My friend bought me a bag of fresh mussels for a treat!. I didn't feel like eating them that day so I put them straight in the freezer!. When I told her what I had done she freaked and said I had ruined them but couldn't explain why!. I've bought frozen mussels many a time, they where super fresh when I froze them so what's the problem!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think what your friend is saying is that they have lost the quality that they would have had if they were used when they were fresh! I'm thinking that maybe your friend would have brought your frozen mussels in place of the fresh ones had they known you were going to freeze them anyhow!.

Ultimately I think your friend felt as though you "wasted" the fresh mussels even though to you it seemed perfectly fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

as long as they didnt open up because of heat then ur fine!.!.!.!.!.if they r still closed take em out and boil or steam em, season them goood and eat up!.!.!. lolz ur fine, u can refreeze mussels, i have and im still here and didnt get sickWww@FoodAQ@Com

mussels are meant to be cooked alive if you freeze them fresh they loose a lot of flavorWww@FoodAQ@Com
