Thanksgiving turkey and mashed potato help?!
I need help with turkey and mashed potatoes!.I saw a recipe on Rachael Ray (Rach to the Rescue segment) about covering the turkey in compound butter!.Then they cooked it at a high temperature for 30 minutes!.Then turned it down to 350 for the rest of the time!.What was the higher temperature, 400 or 450!?And as well how long would it take to cook it the rest of the way at 350!?My second question is in regards to mashed potatoes, I make them all the time but I wanted to do something different for thanksgiving!.I saw a recipe where they steeped some half and half with garlic!.How much garlic would I use for a pint!?As well as how long do I let it steep!?And do I steep it at low!? thanks Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would Say cook the turkey at 400 for the 30 minutes, then let it go at 350 until an instant read thermometer 165 i believe, then for the mash potatoes, i wouldn't let it steep more than 10 or 20 minutes depending on fresh or powdered garlic!. powdered less time, more concetrated!.!.!. Hope this helps!.!.!.
