Why does lactose-free milk take so long to expire?!

Question: Why does lactose-free milk take so long to expire!?
Regular milk expires fairly quickly compared to lactose free milk!. Lactose free milk, such as Lactaid, can last up to six weeks before expiring!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been wondering that myself since I started to buy Lactose-free milk for my husband - which, BTW - is really, really good!. It just seemed so odd that a dairy product would last so long - but it does, and it's as fresh and creamy as the day we opened it!.

From the best I could find on the Internet - without delving too deep - was that extended shelf life for milk and cream is achieved by using different methods of pasteurization or filtration!.
