Aside from the correct answer you've already received, I make them at home this way: I slit open the hot dog and stuff it with cooked bacon and jalapeno cheddar cheese!. Then I put the hot dog on a stick, dip it in the cornbread batter and deep fry it until golden!. Squeeze a little mustard on it and you have an artery-clogging treat fit for a king! Yum Yum Yum!

P!.S!. I've been to London twice and had delicious food there that I've never eaten in America!. There was nothing wrong with your question!. also, it is not just a hot dog wrapped in bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Usually they are hotdogs dipped in a corn bread-esque batter, then fried, usually vertically!. The best dogs are either beef or chicken, none of that pork business!. Sometimes sausages are used!. (Technically hotdog is a sausage, I guess, but whatever!.) They originated as a fair/carnival/amusement park food but later became very popular throughout the land!.

Unlike what another has said, they do not need to be unhealthy!. If one were to use chicken franks and a healthy oil--like, I dunno, safflower--you'd be looking at a rather healthy treat!. What's more, cornmeal has a safe glycemic index!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

im sure you have them, just call them something else!. like bangers!. cockles and wenkels( sorry about spelling, pieces of clams you eat from the jar, we put in chowder)!.
we also have a boot in ours cars, but we dont call them that!.
dont ever ask an American to knock you up, when you want him to knock on your door!.

a corn dog is really just a hot dog, type of sausage, banger, which has been fried in a batter, like fish and chips, so the batter is now stuck to the hot dog!.

edit - found a great pic!. shows it whole and cross section!.

It's a hot dog that's been breaded in cornmeal dough, deep fried and served on a stick!. They'ree common at fairs and on the boardwalk!.

I have to know– where are you from that you didn't know that!?

*****EDIT*******

Hey– no offense– I'm just asking!. I assumed you were American and just didn't know!. Obviously our countries don't have all the same things!.

*****EDIT*********

Look honey– I really didn't say anything offensive!. Okay!? I was curious no matter where you were from!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know what you talking about, I lived in the U!.S but have been working in the Mid East for a while and they don't have any here!.

If you ever go to USA try the chicken flavoured kind which are sweeter than beef!. Dip it in sweet or regular mustard as you eat them, YUmmmY!!!

Maybe you can make some for yourself, just remember you will need a fryer!.

If you get it from the super market then just pop it in the microwave!.
