why do u have to "promptly store unused portions in a separate container" for can soups (ie like it's labelled on the back of campbell's soup)!? what happens if u don't!? does the can leach chemicals into the soup when open to air!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It just is safer nothing will happen but the metal from the can will go into the soup or juice and it will either make it taste different or poison you depending on who you consult about it!. I think it just makes it taste more nasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
it can cause botualism!. It takes about 4 hours though, so if it's after that dont trust it!. If you have any doubts toss it away!.The can once it was sealed allowed no air to enter the can, once it was opened, until properly heated it was/is a prime target for food-borne illnessWww@FoodAQ@Com
an oxidation of the metal can occur and create a toxin that is way bad for humans!. a sort of electrolysis that produces various oxides depending on what's in the can!. It's a good Idea to remove any food from a metal container anyway !.!.!. even a cooking pan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
