How to pick a good mango, and more?!

Question: How to pick a good mango, and more!?
I am expanding my experiences and trying new things!. I bought a mango last week, but don't think I picked a good one!. It had a really hard, white fibrous chunk inside!. also, do you eat the peel or not!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
For me if you can smell the sweetness thru the skin and its soft to the touch if you press gently its ripe this works for most fruits like citrus, and for tomatos too!. For Pineapple, if you can smell it and pull one of the top leaves out with out much force its ripe!. If your looking at melons if you push gently on the stem end and it gives a tiny bit of resisitance its ripe and no the thumping trick doesnt work lest for me!.

Yes you peel it, the skin is unedible and before cutting it gently find the large fiberous seed and slice the fruit away from it and enjoy!. The fruits if ripe are very sweet, juicy and are very good chunked up in salads, pureeed and dished over ice cream, roasted and drizzled with honey and almonds for a dessert or eaten as is just make sure you have a small stack of napkins it gets quite messy but worth it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No you don't eat the skin!. Try to pick a squidgier one next time!. The one you've got probably isn't ripe enough!. When they're nice and soft, the centre should be bright orange and it'll taste really sweet!. Mangoes are gorgeous if you get a good one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They should smell sweet but not to the point where the juice is dripping out!.they also shouldn't have bruises on them or any squishy parts!.dont pick the really hard green or red ones either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think a good mango should smell really sweet and shouldn't be hard or too mushy!.
