Was I too harsh on this delivery guy?!

Question: Was I too harsh on this delivery guy!?
Okay here is the story!. I placed an order for a pizza store that usually only sells by the slice but will sell whole pizzas if you are willing to wait 20 minutes more!. I decided that is what I wanted to do!. The guy said it would be 50 minutes for more order!. I'm fine with that because there is pizza is fantastic! However two hours later I still didn't have my pizza!. The guy at the restaurant sounded surprised and said the delivery guy got sent out a half hour ago!. I decided to give him the benefit the doubt since it was snowing and assumed he got stuck or something!. 15 minutes later I get my pizza and I ask him how's the weather out there!. He says its fine!. And I say still there Must have been a lot of traffic!. He says no!. I was like wait, what!? I told him I had been expecting him a while ago and he told me he just needed to stop for a big gulp real quick (soda from seven eleven)!. He then hands me the pizza, which is cold and my drink!. I ask him where my brownie was and he said it was in his car and did I really want him to go get it!. I said yes and he ran back and got it and it was all squished up and had obviously been sat on!. He said it got crushed by a 2 liter out in his car and I give him an incredulous look He then sticks out his hands and says "Tip!?!!?" I shut the door in his face and vowed to only eat at that restaurant in person from then on, and if I needed a delivery to order with a fake name as he undoubtedly talked **** about me!. I know it was rude to shut the door in his face and I feel really bad!.!.!.but I don't know if I was too out of line!? What do you guys think!? Should I have tipped him!. Or at least bid him a nice day!? I seriously doubt all he did in between was get a big gulp as the restaurant is a five minute drive away!. Literally!. I could have walked easily and probably should have but I was with my study group in my dorm room and I don't have a car so I didn't want to leave!. What do you guys think!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well it is a fine line and definitely a personal matter of judgment, but considering the extremely inconvenience you were presented with - I don't think you were out of line for not tipping him!. Slamming the door in his face was definitely harsh!. I would have probably just laughed at him and asked him if he was joking!. Then I would have outlined all of the reasons he and his company made your customer service experience terrible!. Then I would have dropped a penny on the floor and as he stooped down to get it I would have kneed him in the face!. Cold pizza is NOT cool in my book!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe you should have been a bit nicer, but he does seem to be a real asshole!. I mean, squished brownies, cold pizza, 2 hour wait, taking a break on the job!. His job is to just get the pizza to you, and he couldn't!. He definitely doesn't deserve a top!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If a delivery was sent to my family like that and the delivery man was rude to my dad that way, he'll be lucky to be in a coma!. (Seriously, my dad once killed someone)

Anyway, he so did not deserve a tip!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

that's one messed up delivery person!. You were not too harsh!. I've never heard of such nerve and incompetence!. That guy should be fired!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wait that was you!?!?!?
Jk, I don't think you were too harsh on him!. He didn't do his job, which was to get the pizza to you in less than an hour, and he brought it an hour and ten minutes late!. If I were you, I would've not given him a tip either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, it depends what you mean by too harsh!. I'm not from a country where tipping is customary, but I believe that you should only tip for good service!. And I'm not entirely sure how it is in (i'm assuming) the US, but it seemed really rude for him to ask for a tip!. It really is the choice of the customer!.

In terms of the service that you received, no you were not too harsh!. However, if you're really worried about eating there again it may have been better to tip just to keep people happy!.

Possibly the next time something happens like that, explain why you don't want to tip the person!. Because frankly, if my mother had received service like you had, she would probably have refused to pay out right!. If they understand or maybe feel ashamed of their actions, for example going on a trip for food on a delivery run, they may be less likely to bad mouth you!.

But I wouldn't worry, the odds of the people actually remembering a specific incident, with so many people who go through restaurants today!.!.!.!.it's pretty unlikely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think he deserved it because of what he did [i!.e late/cold pizza, going to get a drink when he should have delivered the pizza, sitting on the brownie, etc] but the door slamming was unnecessary!.
Besides, if I were you, I would have bitched him out instead :]
Oh yeah, your right about one thing!. He doesn't deserve a tip!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

damn damn damn damn!.damn!. i've gotta say that guy deserved more than what you dished out on him!. you should of called the manager got him fired and asked for either a refund or either a remake of your food so that way you could keep your normal order (the f!.!.d up one) and eat it and get the brand new one and save that one for the next morning!. that's what my mom does when the pizza dude f!.!.s up!.
i would've kicked that m!.f!.s azz!. and slammed that door on him for even asking for a tip and being a smart azz!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you did fine with the situation at hand!. I would have responded the same way, especially after hearing that he stopped for a pop and then really didn't want to give me the brownie that I also ordered and paid for! I would also consider calling the pizza place and speaking to a manager about the situation and the conversation that took place between you and the delivery guy!. My husband and I had a situation where the pizza took forever to be delivered, but then the delivery guy didn't bring the whole order to us and thought that was okay!. We called the pizza place and the manager credited us for the next order!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't really think you should have had been polite to him!. I'm glad you did what you did!. You've waited more than an hour!. The pizza man should've taken his job seriously, and went ahead to give you your meal!. Your food got cold and squished!. I seriously think you did the absolute right thing!. Because that was just plain rude what the pizza guy did!. He should keep a water bottle or any bottled drink with him at all times!. He could've waited until you got your order!. And after he delivered the meal, he could've went to Seven 11 afterward!. That, in my opinion, was very rude!. He should be fired from his job, if he ever does it again!. If you haven't already, I think you should complain to his boss, the next time you go to the restaurant, in person, as you say you will in the future!. Again, I think you were not too harsh on the guy!. He deserved what he got from you!. And who does that guy think he is!? Asking for a tip after he messed up the order!?

But no one has to choose my answer if they don't want to!. I am only an 11 year old!. But I am very knowledgeable!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
