Answers:
When you peel an orange your fingers touch the peel and then the flesh!. When paring a potato or carrot the same is true of both your fingers and the peeler!.!.!.I wash potatoes again after peeling but I do not want to wash my peeled cucumbers, so I wash them thoroughly before hand!.

It is a good idea to wash melons before cutting, too!. The knife passes through the rind before going through the flesh!.

Oh, wash your hands thoroughly before handling any fooods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Washing the fruits and vegetables cleans off pesticides and germs that may get on your hands as you eat it!. Since potatoes were in the earth they really can be loaded with germs and dirt!. And some people like the potato peel such as in baked potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

we wash fruits because when the person grows it they use pesticides and that gets on the fruit!. when you are peeling an orange the pesticides go into the fruit if you cut it with out peeling it!. and for the potatoes they come from the ground and they are dirty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I see what you mean about the orange thing, but some people like potatoes with the skin on!. But, we clean fruit to get rid of any germs or pesticides that may be on the fruit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
