What should I do? / Fruit hair?!

Question: What should I do!? / Fruit hair!?
What should I do!? I recently purchased a "Dole mixed fruit" fruit cup from a grocery store!. I was about to open the container and eat the fruit when I noticed there was a (at least 2inch) long dark brown strand of hair in the fruit!. I contacted Dole and informed them of the situation and the Representative I talked to asked me if the container was opened!. I advised her that the fruit cup had never been opened and was still in its original seal!. At that point the Dole employee told me," even if I did eat the cup of fruit w/ hair it would be okay because they (Dole) place each product through Thermo heat which is suppose to kill the germs!." She then said, " it would be upsetting and disgusting but you would be okay if you ate the hair!. You're better off this happened with us!. This doesn't happen a lot so the FDA is okay with it!." I was very confused about herstatementt and attitude toward the incident!. She talked to me as if I was wasting her time by contacting them "Dole" the maker of this product!. So again what should I do!? I still have the cup of fruit on my kitchen counter and yes it is still unopened!. Should I just throw it away or attempt to make a complaint with a differentindividuall in the company!? Oh yeah, almost forgot, "the FDA is okay with it" that statement she made doesn't sit well with me!. I hope and pray the FDA doesn't just look over incidents like this!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
How disgusting! You not only got a Dole Fruit and Hair cup, you got a Dole rep who didn't know her job!. Call them back and demand to speak to a responsible person!. The least they should do is send you a goodly amount of their product -- sans hair -- and a letter of apology!Www@FoodAQ@Com
