How come nothing ever bakes right for me?!

Question: How come nothing ever bakes right for me!?
I use an oven thermometer, a meat thermometer, I preheat the oven!. I use the exact time a recipe says & it's never done when it's supposed to be!.
also, I moved over the summer, so now it's a completely different oven!.
Example I made Tyler Florence ultimate Roast Chicken!. Supposed to cook 25 minutes, then 25 minutes more!. i have cooked it for TWO AND A HALF HOURS and the breasts are raw!. this is freaking me out!. Do the laws of physics not apply to me!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

i have the exact opposite problem with my new oven at the house!. i over cook every thing cause i am not used to this oven!.!. first cake i baked i burned it!.!.!. try getting a new thermometer!.!.!. OR turning the oven up it!. i also learned that glass bake faster then metal ( who knew this!?!?)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bad oven or an altitude problem!.Call a repairman to come out and look at the oven!. I live at 4,500' and have to make adjustments!. I also have a hot side and a less hot side so I have to turn stuff from time to time or a cake will come out lopsided!. I also got stuck with an electric stove/oven!. I hate that glorified hotplate!. It reminds me of a little girls "easy bake oven" with a light bulb for the heating element!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Back to the basics!. Get better thermometers!. Test 'em against known good thermometers (borrow a friends)!.

Make sure you preheat oven to the correct temperature!. No peeking!. While baking open the oven as few times as possible!. Each peek lowers the temp by 25 degrees F!.

Use quality roasting and baking pans -- not the cheap stamped metal ones!.

Sift flour before measuring!. Use a scale, if possible, not a measuring cup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use a SEPARATE thermometer that sits in the oven to check its temperature AT THE COOKING HEIGHT!. The oven thermostat may not be correct, or the oven "seals" may be bad creating a draft or letting the heat out!.

I find that about 2 out of 5 are off by a significant amount!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's probly your altitude/elevation you are too far above sea level or somethingWww@FoodAQ@Com
