I know someone else who had this happen to them just the other day!. You need to ground yourself and the choc somehow!. It would prob help if you didn't wear any polyester or other clothing that generates static when it is rubbed(cotton would be good)!. I would try touching your sink faucet before touching the bowl which should ground you!. The more often you touch it and ground yourself the less chance it can build up a charge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had this happen just once with chocolate shavings ( and once with some flour and other ingredients I was vigorously dry mixing by hand ) in the 40 some years I've been cooking,,, cannot recollect what the exact conditions were at the time, just that my chocolate went into a fireworks type explosive display, and the flour was way worse!.

now I am in the habit of grounding myself with the kitchen sink faucet on low humidity days, or when the electric furnace is on, before grabbing the bowl and not standing on a throw rug while mixing or shaving regardless of any other conditionsWww@FoodAQ@Com

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahah!.!.!.

sorry, but that does sound stupid and is hilarious!. my sympathies though, it would be irritating having chocolate explode on you!.

maybe dont do it on such a dry day!? or maybe keep a wet teatowl around/over the bowl holding the chocolate!? dont let the water touch the chocolate though because it makes it go icky!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard of!.

Use a glass bowl next time!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
