We don't have curbside trash pickup or a garbage disposal, so throwing food away is not option!. We do, however, compost all vegetable scraps and anything (non-meat) that has gone bad!.
Try a little investment cooking: make a meal that feeds 4 people, eat one portion and freeze the other 3 portions!. Pasta, refried beans, soups, meatballs and chili all freeze and thaw well!.
You can freeze restaurant leftovers too, as long as you properly package and label the food!. Labels are crucial because everything looks the same once it's frozen!.
You can also freeze bread - spread the slices out on a cookie sheet and freeze for one hour!. Put the frozen slices into a zipper-type freezer bag and when you can just pull out a few slices when needed!. Slices of bread thaw at room temperature in 30 minutes!.
Wish I had some handy tips for celery and grapes - I end up composting those more often than I'd care to admit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes we all fell guilty about throwing away food, and one way to plan out is when you go to the store and buy food try to buy the things for that week only!. also know what you want instead of saying you would get something because it could be useful!. Get less then what you think you need because most people get more than they need and then they end up having leftovers and throw them out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It does call for planning!. I rarely throw food away!. I don't live alone, but it is hard to adjust the quantities for a single eater!. Try to divide some of the food packages in half and put away in the freezer for another meal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Unless the food has gone bad it never gets thrown away here!. We just mix it in with the dog's food!. The only thing he won't eat is bananas and they don't last long enough to go bad in this house!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
