Is this pineapple safe to eat?!

Question: Is this pineapple safe to eat!?
I bought a full pineapple about a week ago!. It has since started getting a deeper brownish color and has gotten a little "wilted"!. I assume that means it's really ripe!. Anyways, the problem is that there is mold on the bottomside!. You know, the little dip on the bottom!. I'm pretty sure it's mold!. It's got a cotton-ball type look to it!. That's the only place where there's mold on the pineapple!. My question is, is it safe to cute and eat!? Is the whole pineapple affected by the mold!?

Thanks for your help,

Answers:
Yes it is safe to eat just trim a little more off the bottom than you normally would!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just trim off all of the mold, and cut off the peel and core it and dice it!. Then put it in a bowl and take a big whiff!. If it smells fine and the fruit pieces you have diced have a nice yellow color, it is fine!.

You can also trim mold off of bread and cheese and won't die!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

With bread the mold actually grows inside the whole loaf before you finally see it on the surface!. So you should always throw it out and not just cut off the moldy spot!.

I *assume* this could be the same for fruit!. I'd throw it out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat it!. Does it smell funky!? Although if it didn't I still wouldn't eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cut the bottom off and only eat the top part!. It may be over ripe!. In that case, throw it away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My grandmother always said,

"When in doubt, throw it out!."

Better than getting sick!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat it!. Do you eat an orange when it has mold spots on it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat it if it looks rotten or moldy!. The same with any fruit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
