How on EARTH do people get enough IRON in food? OK?!

Question: How on EARTH do people get enough IRON in food!? OK!?
On the back of most packages of food the Nutritional facts will tell you how much Iron a food has: Now, I spent all day in a grocery store only to find that not one thing I could find has more than about 4% of the daily recommended amount of Iron!. You would have to eat about 50 bags of popcorn, or 100 servings of almost everything in the grocery store in one day to get the daily recommended amount of iron !? I'm confused !?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Prepackaged foods are very poor sources of iron, and any kind of significant nutrition at all!.
The main sources of iron are non-processed foods like red meat (50% RDA per 3 oz) , dark poultry meat (about 40% RDA per 3 oz), leafy greens (20-30% per serving), beans (20-40%, depending on type), tofu (33!.33% RDA per serving), eggs (10% per egg)!. Liver is very high in iron (about 60% RDA per 3 oz serving) , but not everybody can stomach it!.

Taking into account that most Americans eat way more red meat than they should, getting too much iron is much more likely than getting to little!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hope you like molasses!. It is packed full of iron!. I craved it when pregnant, asked my dr!. about the craving, and he assured me it was a healthy thing to do!. Not chemicals and junk food and such!.

I'm certain many other foods contain high contents of iron, but ya just have to keep reading the labels!.!.!.!. I believe some dried fruits are good in that area!. Grits, Triscuit, Kashi all have iron!. Good luck!.

You can always take iron supplements, but the side effect is constipation!. It's your choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
