Should schools add a nutritional class?!

Question: Should schools add a nutritional class!?
Yes, most schools have Health class that talks about the effects of smoking and alcohol and sometimes about food!. What if schools incorporated a nutritional class or a section on nutrition IN health class!. Instead of telling kids that junk food is bad, why don't we teach them about it and what exactly is inside their favorite junk foods and the effects of consuming them!.

Telling children/teenagers not to eat bad food does bring up the question "why should I!?"!. But the answer usually given to that is "because it's bad" or "because you'll get fat"!. So maybe I was thinking that schools should incorporate at least a section or term in Health class on nutrition and the side effects of consuming too much junk/fast food!.

I am interested to hear all opinions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, instead of banning junk food in school and punishing "fit" kids, they should educate them and let them make decisions on their own!. They should make this a requirement as many kids today have no clue what is good or bad for them!. They should also encourage students to exercise more and give them less homework so they won't be in their home all day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I believe it should be fit in HS curriculum somewhere!. Along with a consumer education class (car insurance, budgeting, etc!.)!. Or maybe just combine health, consumer ed, and nutrition into one class called Life Skills!. And it should be a requirement, not an elective!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, - it's so important!. My son learned all those things in his health class!. He knows about trans fat, etc!., and taught me some things!. He reads all the labels on the things I purchase, and has learned to eat healthy!. These kinds of things are more important than having to take a Geology class!Www@FoodAQ@Com
