Just got three new wooden spoons, should I treat them some way before use?!
I've just purchased three new wooden spoons for the kitchen!. Should I prepare them somehow before use, besides just washing them, like rubbing them with vegetable oil, etc!.!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Depends!. Are the wooden spoons treated!? If the surface is very smooth, then you don't need to do anything!. If they are raw wooden spoons, you can either just use them and hope to season the utensils this way, or season them using mineral oil!. NEVER use cooking oil!. Why not!? Because cooking oil can turn rancid and you will have to throw your spoons away!.

The wood can be maintained with the addition of rubbing it down in mineral oil after washing, do not use vegetable oil as this can go rancidWww@FoodAQ@Com
wash them, dry them and when they are totally dry apply a light coat of MINERAL not VEGETABLE oil!.!.!.it will really make a difference!. Mineral oil will not go rancid and has no taste unlike vegetable oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
soak them in vegetable oil for 20 minutes
it makes them last longer!.
wash them in warm water before using!.
hope this helps :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
