It's packaged in the same sardine cans and even the nutritional info is pretty much the same as for sardines!. I bought it thinking it was sardines but now i go to eat it and the label says mackerel!. Wtf!. So is there a difference b/n mackerel and sardines!? Does anyone know for sure!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Mackerel is a big fish like a tuna!. A sardine is very small!. Mackerel is an oily fish that is usually salt cured if not eaten the day it is caught!. I am not sure of the taste difference!.

Hope this helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

There's not a big difference, except the taste!. Use them in any dish!. I like my sardines on saltine crackers, but would eat Mackerel if need be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Canned fish!?!

Okay, but only high grade tuna since it's a very exacting job to catch tuna!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They'll taste ok!. It's packaged the same as sardines!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm sure you can eat them the same way you eat the sardines (on crackers, with rice, etc), but from experience, mackerel taste closer to tuna!. They have a tuna-like flavor!. I think they're pretty good! !.!.!. err but I'm vegetarian now so I'm speaking of PAST experience!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
