Why is soda/pop unhealthy for you?!
I love to drink soda (usually diet coke about once a day)!. But everyone is telling me that if I want to get healthier/more fit, I should drop the habit!. I'm not overweight, and thought that as long as it was diet, it didn't matter!. I need as many reasons to quit drinking the stuff as possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

However, if you are at a healthy weight and manage your diet and balance it with exercise, a diet soda shouldn't really be a problem!.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking that soda of any sort will help keep you hydrated and satisfy thirst when in fact this is not the case!. To stay hydrated and healthy make sure you're drinking plenty of water whether your active or not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

With diet soda you're still taking in more sodium and other unwanted additives into your body than you would from water, juice, or other sources!. also there is some concern that any artificial sweetener can have bad effects over time, particularly aspartame (Nutrasweet) which is present in most diet drinks!. Some people tolerate sweeteners differently; for example I can't drink anything with aspartame but my wife can't drink anything with sucralose (Splenda)!. It's an open question as to what such sweeteners can do to your body over the long term even if you don't have a bad reaction to them!.
On the other hand non-diet soda is usually loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, which is worse for your body than sugar!. Switching to diet from non-diet is a good idea for anyone who can handle the sweeteners, but moderation is the best choice of all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
