Real vanilla tastes of nothing much?!

Question: Real vanilla tastes of nothing much!?
I love vanilla spice, and have been using organic real vanilla powder for a while!. But it just doesn't seem to add any good taste!. It tastes a bit bitter, and a bit sour, and it doesn't add the creamy richness that I associate with vanilla!. - or is that the flavour of synthetic vanilla, the way that cassia cinnamon and real cinnamon taste quite differently!?

Or am I not using it right!? I just put some into cold smoothies, and into warm hot chocolate, etc, so it's foods at different temperatures, if that makes a difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The way to use real vanilla is buy whole vanilla beans!. Powdered vanilla would probably lose its flavor very quickly!.

Real vanilla is a very strong flavor!. You slit open the long bean (really a pod), scrape out the tiny, sticky seeds!. That's your vanilla!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Real vanilla extract and powder are basically used for baking and cooking and not as an additive to a drink!.Vanilla sugar and Vanilla syrup are what your looking for!.

Are you sure it hasn't gone bad!? Maybe it can only be used for 60 days!.!.!.
