Yes, there is a small risk associated with this!. It is mostly peanut butter, although all peanut butter products (ice cream, crackers, etc!.!.!.) have been affected!. The FDA has suggested not the eat any peanut butter with the brand name Peter Pan purchased since May 2006!.
The states that have reported illnesses are:Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia!.
Although if you do, make sure it does not have a number that begins with "2111" on the jar lid!.
All other peanut butters should be okay to eat and you should merrily chomp down on jars worth of peanut butter (although if you feel uneasy, just avoid peanuts all together until the problem is resolved)
An infectious dose of Salmonella is small, probably from 15 to 20 cells!. The incubation period – the time between ingestion of Salmonella bacteria and the onset of illness – varies from six to 72 hours
If you want to eat your crackers, you should be fine!. Most of those companies produce their own peanut butter, however Kellog's did admit to ONE package having confirmed salmonella!.
Personally!? I love the damn things and i trust that i won't get it, because otherwise the store wouldn't be selling them!. One person would buy some, complain, and theyd throw out the whole batch!. So no, in my opinion, i dont think that there's anything wrong with it!.
