a simple sugar is a six carbon ring, sometimes with keytones or aldehydes attached!. More or less a "saccharide" is another term for a type of carbohydrate or sugar!. Monosaccharides are simple sugars, meaning they only have one six-carbon ring, or cylcohexane, that makes up the molecule!. These cyclohexanes can be attached, much like Legos, rather easily and thus you get disaccharides, trisaccharides, etc!. etc!. So to sum u!.!.!. a simple sugar is a monosaccharide!. an example of a monosaccharide is fructose(fruit sugar) A dissacharide would be sucrose(table sugar)!. I'm not sure what you mean by "simple sugar", because sugar is sugar no matter what!. I like Splenda, though!. (: It's not as sweet as sugar but it's sooo much better for you (They say)!. :P!Www@FoodAQ@Com
