Why is some milk OK to not refrigerate?!
My little girl is drinking whole milk now and I was thinking about picking up some of those juice box style packs of milk to throw in her baby bag when I need them!. I started to wonder why these boxes don't need to be refrigerated like regular milk!. Is there something in the milk itself, or is it the packaging!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It's the packaging!.
It's called an aseptic container

Sorry, but "ultra pasteurized" milk needs refridgeration!.
It will last longer in the refridgerator then pasteurized milk, but unless it's in an aseptic container, it will go bad ( unopened) and out of the fridge!.
With the aspetic container, it can lasts years out of the fridge( unopened)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is ultra pasturized, meaning it has been boiled at a very high heat in order to destroy any bacteria that may live in the milk naturally!. All refrigerated milk has bacteria in it, but it won't hurt you, it will just sour the milk if it isn't kept cold, the boxed kind has no bacteria and has added vitamin D because the boiling process takes some of the good stuff out!. i hope this answers it it for you!. By the way that sounds like a very good idea, I'm gonna do that too!. Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Aseptic packaging!. Never heard of it!? Start buying a newspaper everyday and stop watching the Simpsons!. Be a role model to your daughter so she grows up to be better read than her mother!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
