Non-pork substitute for prosciutto?!
I will be making beef pinwheels, but a few of my friends don't eat pork for religious reasons!. These pinwheels have prosciutto, and it adds great flavor -- but i was wondering if there is a possible non-pork substitute for it (which i'm sure will involve me adding salt)!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Bresaola( air dried beef)!.
It must be sliced paper thin( and it's saltier then prosciutto)!.
So don't add any more salt)!.
It's referred to as "Beef prosciutto" but ask for "air dried beef"!.

Corned beef might add some zip to your pinwheels!. Would that work!? It's salty and tasty!. You can get it in thin slices at the deli counter!. If you grind everything up to make your pinwheels (I've seen them done both ways, truthfully) would some beef jerky soaked overnight in water work!? Don't forget turkey ham!. That might work as well!. There's even turkey bacon now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Salted, cured meats such as turkey and chicken exist, just check your local deli!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
