What do truffles taste like?!
Not the candy ones, but the real ones that get dug up from the ground!. I've always imagined them kind of like mushrooms!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

White Piedmontese Winter Truffles were $5000!.00 a lb this year!.
They are the best truffles and most expensive food in the world!.
Earthy, pungent and I also( for lack of a better word) refer to them as "Radioactive"!.
A single fresh white truffle can perfume a room in about 10 seconds after it's taken out of the bag!.
They are that aromatic!.

The Black Winter Truffle from Perigord is a distance 2nd best( and I mean a distant)!.
Summer Truffles are useless!.
Jarred or canned truffles are worthless( no taste and like cardboard( avoid)!.
If you want to get the taste of truffle, just pick up a small bottle of white or black truffle oil( if you can get one from "Alba" Italy( that's the best)!.If not, Urbani makes a decent one!.
If you can get your hands on "Fernando Pensato" Black Truffle oil, your really in for a treat!.( we import that one)-:)

taste is dominate and earthy,can be milder(usually with white truffles)but otherwise pungent!.!.nice flavour,accompanies many dishs,beef,lamb,pork,even side dishs,risotto,potatoes,even in sauces like hollandaise,bechemel,espagnole,veloute,c!.!.!.
