Because eventually( although sour) it will go bad!.
Bacterial growth!?

um, I just noticed,
nice er, nice,umm,
nice picture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know! It takes over a month past that date to go bad, sometimes longer! Why not just put a description of what "bad" sour cream looks/smells/tastes like on the package, and a big warning - "Do not eat if!.!.!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you use it beyond the expiration date, it will get moldy in your refrigerator!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I believe it's because it's got milk as one of it's ingrediants!.!? It's a dairy product in any case, they all spoil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I totally agree ! It's like blue cheese , how do you tell when it's moldy!?
Or bread crumbs , when are they getting stale!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

So people know when the product is old and not good to be consumed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah, I never pay attention to that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

additives don't last that long!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
