Does anyone use flax seed in their food & drink?!

Question: Does anyone use flax seed in their food & drink!?
I was recommended to use flax seed with my food to help my bowel movements become more regular, but it's Canadian flax seed with senna, & the bag said that senna can give you serious diarrhea!.

It's not ground or milled, & it has other special fruits & maybe minerals in it!. But I can't swallow it because it's sort of (hard to describe) maybe whole or dry!. I've tried it with water, & it was too hard, big, & maybe chunky!. It costed me $11, & that's supposed to be the REAL flax seed mixed with other things!.

Someone advised me to take flax seed with aloe vera juice to help regulate my digestive system!.

I feel stupid now because I later found MILLED flax seed for under $2, but I think it was only flax seed, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've tried milled flax mixed in protein shakes before on my husband's advice to try and add more fiber & protein in my diet since I am somewhat of a poor eater!. I do not recommend, I thought the taste was awful, hard to choke down!. But milled is for sure the way to go!. Or you could just get something like Metamucil or Benefiber!. If you are going to use flax, I would probably say food is the better way to go, maybe mix it in oatmeal, for a quick option, or use it to bake some fiber cookies :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Real flax seed is definitely expensive!.!.!. My husband takes it in smoothies!.!.it's good in high proteine drinks such as smoothies if one exercises!.!.!.That's true, flax seed helps to improve bowel movement, but so does prune juice and metamucil!.!.!.xxWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would try it in a vitamin!.!.also maybe you could try drinking more water everyday to help keep you moving, along with eating more veggies and fruits!. I hope this helps though and good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

I put flax seeds in my cereal or salad or any food really so I think you should be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'll warn you that I think aloe juice tastes terrible!. I'm not sure what senna is but I'm sure that you can use what you have just as you would flax seed!.

Flax seed is easy to incorporate into your diet!. Some suggestions:
- add about a half tablespoon to a fruit smoothie
- sprinkle milled flax generously on cereal or oatmeal
- add whole flax seeds to homemade breads, muffins, waffles, or pancakes
- use "flax seed goo" as a replacement for eggs in recipes by mixing 1 tablespoon milled flax seed with 3 tablespoons water and let soak for 10 minutes!. You can even pre-mix a lot and keep it refrigerated for later use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat flax seed regularly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
