Side snack ideas for lunch and how to keep sandwich from getting soggy before lunch?!

Question: Side snack ideas for lunch and how to keep sandwich from getting soggy before lunch?
So I'm going to start bringing lunch from home now because the school food is disgusting. I have two questions.. I have my main dish for the rest of the week, a turkey sandwich. But what else should I take? I have Vitamin Water. Maybe some chips and a fruit cup? But what else? And how do I keep the sandwich from getting soggy by lunch time? With my lunch time it'll be sitting for about 3 hours. Thanks !

Answers:

I pack the meat and chese on the dry bread, wrapped or sealed tightly, and the lettuce, tomato, etc., in a separate container. I put the mayo and mustard ont he bread when I'm ready to eat, and add the veggies last. I use tupperware or the gladware type containers to keep it all fresh before lunch. Cheese slices for crackers is good. Fruit. Macaroni, potato, pasta, or cucumber salads are good, and you can get little tuppers for that too. Some lunch boxes come with all the containers that fit, with a blue ice cooler thing, so it's all ready to pack and go fast and easy.

Most regular sandwiches will remain fresh and not soggy except for moist fillings like tomatoes and cucumbers. You can make them less moist by removing the seeds
Fillings are only limited by your imagination.
Store them in plastic 'sandwich bags' you can buy a bag od 150 for a couple of bucks.

If putting the condiments on at school isn't an option, another trick is to put your mayo, etc., between your meat slices or between the meat and cheese rather than on the bread. Same for your lettuce and tomato if you're using them.

a thin, very thin layer of butter or margarine will keep the bread from getting soggy from the other wet ingredients such as mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato.

don't take chips. Get dried fruit/nuts. Bring a hard boiled egg. Yoghurt with granola.

Take turkey in a seperate package and use the condiments from school
