Why do British food companies assume the british public are food poofs?!

Question: Why do British food companies assume the british public are food poofs?
By that i mean they assume we prefer dumbed down, less flavour-sum foods. For example a lot of mature cheddar is quite mild and the chocolates available for purchase are 99% all milky sugary chocolate. Take terrys chocolate segsations all milk chocolate sugary and tbh rather dissapointing, i tell a lie one of the sweet flavour was a dark chocolate one well half of it is. But they all taste the same out of the five flavours there.

Do you actually know what the word poof means?!

I agree with Noodles above.

But to answer your question directly, British food companies sell that kind of food because most food shoppers don't really understand food quality any more. You're correct, the market prefers dumbed-down food, mainly because of price. In my opinion, Europe is not immune to selling poor-quality foodstuffs in Europe. You can buy cheap, sugary, waxy chocolate in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium and it's almost as common as quality, proper chocolate.

I'm a chef.

Hi wave,

Learn to cook and be creative, that way you can have the strong flavours and all the interesting foods that you want without compromising on the ingredients.

There are many wonderfully flavoured foods in the uk and as for british chocolate.......well I do feel that you have to go some way to beat it.

I can quite easily create flavoursome meals and desserts that dance a light fandango on your tongue whilst smooching with your tastebuds from the 'less flavour-sum foods' you speak of.

Have a lovely wednesday evening :)

You mean they actually use limited pasteurized matured cheddar there, and on top of that, your chocolate bars contain 99% real sugar and milk! I wouldn't complain too much, bucko. You should try the synthetic processed garbage we eat across the pond.

And have you noticed the sugar, it's turning powdery, it used to be more grainy.

You should read 'not on the label' by somebody Lawrence. It will answer your food question.

I love our UK chocolate yum yum
