Can boxed food go bad if the expiration date printed on box is from as far back as 2009?!

Question: Can boxed food go bad if the expiration date printed on box is from as far back as 2009?
My boyfriend has boxed food in his cupboards from as far back as 2009...like mac and cheese, and pastaroni, crackers, and he says that as long as they haven't been open then they're still good and I'm not so sure that he's correct. Can anyone clarify?

yes I had a couple boxes of kraft mac and cheese. When i cooked it it had the weirdest smell. I tasted it just incase and it wasn't pleasent

Pasta is fine.

The crackers will be OK, but may be stale.

2009 isn't that bad. I have 3 and 4 year old dried spaghetti and it'll remain fine so long as it's stored in a sealed container, and kept away from bugs.

yes because you then get food poisoning

throw it all away - what do you expect to save, $5????

No

those foods are so processed they'll be fine.
By law you must put a date on the box.

Crackers, they will be fine.

One time I had a huge amount of bran crackers- these are live bran food and not very processed, so after a year or two, small bug had burrowed their way in- because the bran was still good, and had oil and stuff.
But for boxed pasta and white flour crackers and stuff, you're fine.
If the food you have in boxes is still full of nutrients- like it was a sesame seed cracker or something, those seeds and grains can stil attract bugs.

Most white flour crackers , pasta etc, had NO nutritional value at all. SO, you're fine. Anyway, get him to eat it.
