Question: Why is it unhealthy or bad to drink beer and eat dried meat(Beef Jerky) long-term?
In London in 1665 i know that their diet consisted pretty much mainly of beer and dried meat. What were other things that most Londoners ate and why were drinking beer and eating dry meat bad for you?

I'm handicapped and work at home eating beef jerky and drinking
Scottish and English Ales. I get a blood test every two weeks and
full blood work every four months and I show no ill effects.

But London in 1665 is another story. They drank beer because
the water was unsanitary. The people who made the beef jerky
and the equipment they used were also unsanitary. Even the
doctors and the hospitals were unsanitary.

The people in London in 1665 did not bathe very often because
they believed the dirt protected them from getting sick. It wasn't
until almost 100 years later that Louis Pasteur explained germs.

Jerky made then had a ton of salt in it to preserve it as long as possible. Plus the food processing conditions were not as sanitary as today. Jerky bought at the store today still has high levels of salt. However, home made jerky can be made as a healthy snack with a food dehydrator. Beef jerky’s basic ingredients should consist of:

■A lean piece of meat
■if desired, marinades, sauces, glazes or other liquids to impart flavor
■if desired, salt, pepper or other spices
Homemade beef jerky is a wholesome, 100% natural snack that is easy and fun to make. In contrast to homemade beef jerky, store bought beef jerky is an over processed, over priced meat product that includes extra sugars (typically brown sugar) and loads of extra salt as ingredients

a diet high in fat (jerky), salt (jerky), and alcohol (beer)

all not bad in low amounts, but in heavy amounts can cause serious health problems

Because you will end up dead...just like those Londoners. There isn't one of them alive today.
