Can pigs be fed on supermarket out of date fruit & vegetables, bread etc?!

Question: Can pigs be fed on supermarket out of date fruit & vegetables, bread etc?
I have been approached by a local pig farmer, as I am working in a supermarket, with regards to allowing him to recover our 'waste food' damaged and out of codes etc. Apparently, this will reduce costs for us as we will not have to pay for 'bio' waste removal, and it also helps the farmer as his costs are reduced accordingly. Trouble is, neither of us want to break the Law..Other than opinion, anyone got any firm detail on this?
Cheers & Oink..

Out of date food is fine. NO meat or animal products though. Not even eggshell is legal anymore

I once worked for a waste disposal company and one of my duties was to collect waste food from various food stores and deliver it to a local piggery. So yes it is possible. You would have to get your boss`s permission first.

Bacon sarnies for ever.

In the US that is legal per current federal laws. It is done by many cooperative businesses. The FDA allows such practice.

Let him have it

but contact your head of department 1st or they might lass it as theft
