Is it dangerous for someone to eat olives from a glass jar, that expired in 2003?!

Question: Is it dangerous for someone to eat olives from a glass jar, that expired in 2003?
I know BPA can seep into plastic containers and botulism into canned. Home canned products shouldn't be kept longer than 5 years. My bro-in-law is going to eat a big glass jar of different types of olives he found in his dead gma's pantry. It's still sealed but it expired in 2003. It's obviously older than the expiration date. I'm the only one that advises to throw it away. Will he get sick?

expiration dates are there for a reason. there is a good chance that botulism or e coli could be present in the jar. If he eats the whole thing its a stomach pump and a scary trip to the hospital. Better to prove his manhood some other way.

I wouldn't eat them.
