I ate raw chicken. Advice?!

Question: I ate raw chicken. Advice?
I'm a useless cook and my mum left out some chicken in breadcrumbs.
I thought it was cooked so I just put it in the microwave for a few minutes.
I only had about 5 bites and I realised it was raw.
I know I'm an idiot.

Am I going to be really ill?
Is there anything I can do to prevent getting ill?

syrup of ipecac. I ate some raw pork by accident once, and took some. works wonders.

The Major sympton you need to look out for is Samonella poisoning which tends to show up very quickly, from one hour or less upwards. The rate of presentation varies from individual to individual. It can also take its time showing up, like up to 24 hours.

I am glad that you did not try to force yourself to vomit because people have died doing this. And, frankly, this would not have removed the samonella that had already worked itself into your system.

If you have no symptoms like headache, diarhea, vomiting, fever, upset stomach, loss of appetite or chills at this time - my best guess is that you will probably be all right.

But, do keep on your guard throughout tommorrow.

Samonella poisoning is very common. Only 3% of all estimated cases are actually reported in north america. It is a contact-transmittable bacteria that can survive insufficient cooking. Proper cooking will kill it.

Go to your Yahoo or Google search box, type in: Salmonella poisoning symptoms. It will take you to a page with many related articles.

Frankly, if by now, you have not any of the above symptoms, you are probably quite okay.

Best wishes.

go to hospital it happened to my mom n she almost died of salmonella you'll have to go to hospital and get treated before anything happens.. eating uncooked chicken isn't like raw fish or beef it can be very dangerous

You may or may not get ill. You can only wait and see. There is nothing you can do.
