Can you buy a 1/2 carton of eggs by splitting a dozen in 1/2 ?!
Well I did this at the grocery store and the cashier seemed appalled. {I've bought them this way before a couple of times, no problem.}

All depends what shop you buy them from. Try and find a shop that sells packs of 6 as well as 12.
