Are Portuguese custard tarts nice? What do they taste similar too?!
I have to choose between options for a meal i'm going too with friends next week, and they need to know what your having before hand...the pudding options are either portuguese tart or assortment of cheeses or variety of ice cream...wanted to try the tart but can anyone tell me what they are like? are they very sweet? because i tried an egg tart in a chinese resturaunt and didn't like it at all! was hoping that they are nothing like on another lol x

Have eaten portuguese custard tarts in Portugal, and in a shop in UK that has portuguese owner.
The ones I've tasted were individual, had flaky pastry slightly sweeter and a different texture than other egg custard tarts. I wouldn't say they were over sweet, but certainly less eggy tasting. My husband and I are great fans
